If you’ve just moved to a new city and are all done with your unpacking and settling in, you might be looking for things to do in your new chosen locale.

We know a lot of people love living in the South, and today, we are focusing our attention on the great city of Little Rock, Arkansas. If you’ve moved there recently and still need things to do on the weekends, fear not. We have you covered.

So put those Little Rock houses for sale behind you and focus on these three awesome Little Rock weekend activities.

Historic Arkansas Museum

Everyone loves a little history now and then, and Little Rock doesn’t disappoint. The historic Arkansas Museum features historic artifacts, artworks, and period buildings that have all played important roles in the history of Arkansas.

You’ll learn about the Native American tribes that were in the state before European settlers arrived. You can also walk around historic houses and stores where interpreters will act out the different lifestyles of people in the 1800s.

This museum is fun for the whole family, and certainly educational, too.

Riverfront Park

Next, you should head to Riverfront Park, a 33-acre green area along the Arkansas River. It’s a wonderful place to walk alone or with friends or a dog. You can check out the sights, the historic bridge, and the splash pads if you’re up for some wet summer fun!

This is a favorite gathering place for the locals, and it’s a nice place to visit for an afternoon.

Arkansas State Capitol

At first, you might wonder why we’d send you to the Arkansas State Capitol, but check this out. It was built in 1899 as a state prison. Now you’re interested. The limestone building features dramatic classical columns and a dome to rival the U.S. Capitol.

Inside, you can check out some historical displays and some leftovers from the building’s prison era. Outside, you can see a few dedications to Confederate prisoners of war, the Little Rock Nine, and other important historical events.

This is a nice stop if you’re in the area.

Little Rock is a pleasant Southern capital, one with plenty to do on a beautiful weekend! So if this city is your new home, head out there and get active with the whole family! Everyone is sure to love Little Rock.
